Doorcracker

This is for everyone on Doorcracker who's upset about the hacking. C'mon over and post! (yes, you are going to need a blogger ID/google account, but it's the best way I can think of to prevent the problems we had on Doorcracker's guest book.

NO personal attacks will be tolerated, and edited out of comments as soon as I notice them. If you have a problem with someone, email me (address in my profile) and we can discuss it. but I will NOT put up with attacking people.

  1. Hi, everyone! :) Here's hoping this works to keep the crazy hacker out.

  2. Hi Tris,

Just one comment for the moment: I think we should no longer post at all in the doorcracker guestbook
    a) because it looks like the hacker is getting the passwords to post under other's names - or maybe he can do that anyway, I wouldn't know :-)
    b) but more importantly, because it's basically attention seeking, and if totally ignored, he may move on for lack of fun

Oh, and probably Thehacker@gmail.com is not *that* hard an account to set up and obtain a GoogleID...... but we'll see how it goes ;)

  3. just to say...
if hacker has your password from doorcracker, he can get all of your passwords from any mail or account. I had that case and someone hacked every my account that I had ,every profile, every mail...
my google account was very important to me and that was only account I managed to save.
Everything else I had to start all over

  5. I've tried to write in my best englich. what is there at the door cracker going on. I do not find it nice that there allows a hacker's fun. is something silly but I hope it can soon be resolved.

  7. but anyways, DC isnt anywhere near as good as it used to be, so its no real loss to me. thats why in my posts youll see im rather uncaring about the situation (in fact, watching this drama unfold is entertaining to my boring days :P)

  8. Hey guys.. this is Synthea.
The hacker doesn't need our passwords to post under our names.. You can do that too. It's pretty easy. Just visit the guestbook without being logged in and go to the page where you leave a comment.. It will give u the choice to enter any name you want, the comment, and the security code (write the letters you see in the box.
I know I haven't been a DC user for that long like you guys, but I'm really sad to see this site dying..

  9. I just don't understand why he is doing that :SSS

  10. perhaps you have angered the almighty god of wrath somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  11. maybe franky has someone who doesn't really like him :D

  12. Suicune - if you aren't going to be helpful, don't post here! :P And Helanren, I DO control this blog. anything the hacker posts - or I suspect is a troll - I can and will delete. :) I just hope franky sees that we're not running away. :) (and by the way, I THINK the hacker was exploiting the fact that, if you aren't signed in, you can post to the guestbook under any name. Even names already in use (I've done it)

  13. Yup Tris that's what he's doin.. I've explained how in my previous post. I usually do it when I wanna leave a comment but don't feel like logging in.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Posting under somebody else's name eh??? Now why didn't it even *occur* to me to try that out? Learn something new every day.... :-)

  15. @tris

being helpful? well i think i am because im trying to lighten everyones mood up by not being so gloomy lol. besides, franky gets back today so we will see who wins, the hacker, or franky. its gonna be 1 epic battle! :D

...and yes the hacker seems like a pervert... which makes this whole thing more amusing to me lol.

  16. Hope Franky can sort this out, I would really miss the site :(

    POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR franky!

  19. looks like franky has fixed guestbook :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, pip, but it seems to be hard work. The hacker is busy on the guestbook, too.

  21. *puts on announcer voice*

  22. I don't know much about creating/maintaining web sites but is it possible in ban someone using there IP address

    ReplyDelete
  23. yes, if franky is skilled enough that should be no problem for him. but if not then he will have major trouble defeating his enemy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i laugh at all the fools who are rejoicing prematurely. franky hasnt done NOTHING but delete a few posts yet. the forums are still busted, and the hacker has not been banned. you guys get too happy and celebrate over the smallest thing, dont you? i would wait until the hacker is truly defeated before opening your mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. hey, i got a prediction... when franky sleeps, the hacker will strike again. do you guys think it wont happen?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Guys - NO PERSONAL ATTACKS. I don't care what you think someone else has done. I won't have it, not here. And again, Suicune, if you can't say anything nice, just don't say it. at least not here. (I reserve the right to delete posts to this blog if I believe it needs doing. And I WILL do it. Just like Franky keeps the guestbook clean.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. hey, i havent attacked anyone, only silver has. im just being my old jolly self! can you tell me whats so "not nice" about being ungloomy about the situation? i mean, people usually tell me to stop being such a negative person, and now im being highly positive and youre shooting me down...

    ReplyDelete
  28. *has awful flashbacks to being taunted in Suicune's Maze* Suicune, even when you're trying to amuse you can be scary. :P but hey, i'm leaving your comments. Just be a bit careful. And apparently we have different ideas of being positive.

    ReplyDelete
  29. k, ill try to tone it down a little, but i really dont wanna be all "omg im so upset, i hate this, booooooo", ya know? thats what i meant by positive (since im not posting that kind of comment).

    ReplyDelete
  30. I get it Suicune, I just don't see how talking about rejoicing prematurely helps. We all know it can still happen, we're just glad for the small victories. So let us have those?

    ReplyDelete
  31. it seems the hacker is up to his old tricks again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. so it does. . . oh well, that's what this is for. :) We'll just keep ignoring him until he gets bored.

    ReplyDelete
  33. so whats the latest from franky? have you guys been discussing the matter or is he keeping the "progress" to himself? im just curious because he said hes working on it, but it looks like he is NOT, because i havent seen anything done yet besides a few posts being deleted, and its been a whole day now...

    ReplyDelete
  34. "due to technical issues the forum has been deactivated"

...lol RIP doorcracker forum, jan-oct 2010

poor kid, didnt even live to be 1 year old... *sniff*

franky will probably make a new one i guess, but this means the hacker has won the forum battle, because all the posts are lost forever if we start from scratch.

however, it seems franky has the upper hand on the main site... as now guest posting is disabled... this battle is very intense, and i look forward to the grand finale!

    WHO WILL WIN!?!?!? :D

*gets another bag of popcorn for round 2*

    ReplyDelete
  35. Suicune - franky may have just deactivated them while he works on fixing them. :) And we don't need all of the old posts, really. we'll survive with a new forum if need be. And keep your popcorn away from my blog! I don't want buttery finger marks all over it! :P

  36. Guys, I got this message today when trying to access Doorcracker's page:
"This web page at www.doorcracker.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences."

Anyone else got the same message? Or can you all access the page with no problem?

    Synthea

    ReplyDelete
  37. i got the same message, anyone know what happened?

    ReplyDelete
  38. i got the same message, it seems that the hacker is back and stronger than ever, because apparently, he has done something to the site (i am assuming anyways)...

...AND THE BATTLE RAGES ON! (sorry i just HAD to! :P)

well.. i guess if the hacker does win, there wont be anymore battle TO watch... lol.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, had the same problem. Looks as if the hacker moved on from being mere childish to malicious. What a sad way to spend your life. And not very productive even from a hacker's point of view: you can hardly expect much return from a few thousand doorcrackers.

    ReplyDelete
  40. lol??? few thousand?!?! you must be high, the last i checked there was not even a few HUNDRED doorcrackers left, let alone a few thousand... all the doors get like 70 solvers tops nowadays.

...which i guess from your point of view would make the hacker even more "sad", but hey, who are we to judge anothers actions? to each his own, whoever he is, im sure he has his reasons for going this far to take down the site...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I get the same warning and didn't open the doorcracker page, because I had a lot of problems with malware on both of my comps. Does anybody know if Frank(y) knows about the problem? And has someone opened the website, nevertheless?

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ silverfish, I don't know whether Frank(y) knows or not, but I did go in anyways, and the site seems to be shredded a bit, cannot navigate on the site without going back to the warning. If anyone knows how to get in touch with him please let us know .... with any luck the pathetic hacker will find a friend or someone to entertain them so they can move on and do something constructive with their life instead of acting like a child on the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Robin, hm, I don't know his doorcracker-mail-adress but he has another mail adress, which I can use. I'll send him an email immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  44. lol franky wont be able to fix this, its out of his hands now... i assume the hacker has taken control of the site, yes? so yea... RIP DOORCRACKER.

oh well, as robin said, we people need to move on and do something constructive with our lives, obsessing over a silly puzzle game is hardly constructive, so imo we should all leave it behind and move on to greater things!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Suicune, I never said "we people" if you read correctly you will see that i wrote.... "they will move on" meaning the childish hacker('s) that are acting like children throwing tantrums online...... but anyways... I am hoping that doorcracker survives this, I as I am sure many do, enjoy and look forward to the new doors every week, and it would be a shame if one little brat had to ruin it for the rest of us.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Franky answered my email, saying the attack warning was caused by an ad. He deleted it and is waiting now for a check-up of his website. But he's still planning his advent calender so there's hope for everyone who likes doorcracker :o)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you silverfish, I am very happy to hear that it will be ok, and will be looking forward to his next door.

    ReplyDelete
  48. and this just goes to show how stupid people are, assuming that "one spoiled brat" caused that. mabye next time you should think before you speak!

on the other hand though, its really sad to see franky pour so much love into something thats become so lackluster and boring. advent calendar? pff... bad idea, the hacker is going to jump all over that one, im sure of it.

we shall see just how long this "save the game" effort lasts, i think its a waste of energy. when something is shattered, it can never be perfect again, no matter how well you try to glue it back together.
